The sound of the door being opened made Luna put down the graphics card she was carefully examinating. A vampire breaking into her house wasn't something that scared her; Quite the opposite. She thought excitement like that couldn't happen in her life. With no rush or fear, she approached the entrance.
Her husband, who will remain unnamed, came back after being out for a whole moon cycle. Luna was surprised, he was empty-handed. Well, apart from the meat he infallibly brought every time.
''Don't look so disappointed, I've got great news! But I'd rather show you.'' He said, going back outside and gesturing Luna to join him.
Closely scanning the car, she got in and fastened her seatbelt. The husband took Luna out for a little exploring every now and then, he even taught her how to drive although only hunters were supposed to do it.
Normally, they stayed inside the mountains, in the safety of garlics and giant gemstones. It seemed that he was following the old river, same route as when Luna travels in train to Hometown, except the husband took a sharp turn to unknown lands.
For the first time, Luna saw a path made of little dark stones where the car ran smoothly on.
''This is a road.'' The husband began explaining. ''It connected cities and towns together and people would drive their vehicles on them. Turns out, there were big cars called 'trucks' that could carry lots of stuff, as well as motorbykes-''
''That were motorized bikes.''
He looked at Luna, pleasantly surprised by the interruption. ''Exactly!''
''The name gave it away.'' She showed him a little smile and kept analyzing the new sights.
As they drove deeper into the mountains, the sky grew grim, vegetation was thicker and the air felt much warmer than back at home. They arrived at a colossal gate; It seemed to block the firmament from that point forward. Pieces of ancient technology made up the giant doors, plants contributing to the notion of them being forgotten to time by covering the sides.
