Staying inside the white coated mountains with the joys of garlic, and the protection of giant gemstones, was what Luna grew accustomed to, yet the man took a sharp turn into unknown lands.
The train tracks that bridged the farming grounds to Hometown, following the Persephone river, now left behind. For the first time, Luna saw a path made of little dark stones that softened the internal vibration of the car.
”This is a road.” His explanation began. ”It connected places together, no matter how far they were. Turns out, all roads led to one city. People drove their vehicles on them. Also, there were these big cars called trucks. They could carry lots of stuff. Flying machines were real, as well as motorbikes —”

    ”Which were motorized bicycles.”

His face expressed surprise, pleased by the unexpected interruption. ”Exactly!”

”The name gave it away,” she added, showing a glimpse of a smile before returning to her analysis of the new sights.

As they drove deeper into the mountains, the sky grew grim; walls were covered by thick vegetation and the air felt charged. Little drops of condensation shone on their faces. The couple of friends arrived at a colossal gate that seemed to block the firmament from this point forward. Pieces of ancient technology piled up to create these giant doors, and plants on the sides contributed to the notion of them being ignored by everyone but nature. Such an unsettling environment engrossed Luna so greatly, she got distracted from the most surprising element: It was lit up, powered by electricity.
